Move for a Cause:
Sunday Dance Fundraiser for Adam Barley

Support Adam Barley’s Lymphoma Cancer Journey to Recovery - join Us in Movement, Connection, and Giving Back.

Adam Barley, a renowned movement teacher and mentor, has dedicated his life to inspiring people through dance and personal growth. MAITREA collaborated with Adam for more then 12 years. Now, he needs our support. Diagnosed with high-grade lymphoma, Adam is undergoing an intensive CAR-T cell therapy treatment and faces a long road to recovery.

To help him during this challenging time, we are organizing a weekly Sunday evening dance class fundraiser, where all proceeds go directly to supporting Adam’s medical expenses, living costs, and recovery process.

Let’s come together as a community and give back to someone who has given so much to us!

About Kata Máthé

For me dance is the easiest way to freedom and to connection with myself and the world: a direct way to presence. I'm a Movement Medicine™ teacher and a certified Embodiment Coach, artist and mother. I started dancing in 2005 and Adam has been one of my most important movement teachers on my journey. Besides attending his workshops I worked with him individually, created installations for his workshops, and organized events for him in Budapest. I've been part of Adam's Mentoring Circle since its beginning in 2021, and all that I worked through and healed in myself with his support and all that I learnt from him as a teacher is an essential part of my offering. I teach because I want to share the healing, the wisdom and the liberation dance brings into my life, weaving together the deep intelligence of our body, heart and mind.

23rd March - 7pm CET - Ivana Vaňková (CZ)

About Ivana Vaňková

I feel happiest when I express myself through my body. Whether as a dancer, percussionist, vocalist, facilitator and guide through conscious dance and movement, therapist, DJ enthusiast or interior designer. Music and movement, they shape me. They break my old patterns, they show me new ones. I have been actively working with bodywork and conscious dance since 2018, when I met the amazing teacher and mentor Adam Barley at my very first 5Rhytms workshop. It was like an epiphany for me, an affirmation that what was happening inside me could be glimpsed, named, grasped, all through the movement of the body. Since then I have attended countless seminars and trainings with other international teachers and have begun to practice on a daily basis. This experience and the friendship of other wonderful people and dancers supported my decision to join the Mentoring Circle of facilitators and guides in conscious dance and movement and the year-long LifePath Zero One apprenticeship, both again with Adam Barley. The circle is coming full circle, everything I represent, my whole life so far, all my downs and successes, all at once in this moment I am putting it all on the line. Just like everyone else in the dancing group. I can feel the movement in my body, the music pulsing through me. I hold the space with great humility and gratitude, feeling the energy of the group, finding harmony between structure and freedom through the music, and trying to create a framework for the dancers to move freely and authentically. I guide others through music, space, dance and conscious movement, allowing them the freedom to discover their own path. We create this precious moment and energy together. And if I can share this with others, it is the greatest gift for me.

30th March - 7pm CET - Luna Buerger (DE)

About Luna Buerger

I am a dancer, movement facilitator, and photographer, and I love to create in so many different ways.I facilitate movement and dance because to dance is both one of my own greatest pleasures and my lifesaver. I started dancing a lot in 2019, and explored my own ways of expressing myself and connecting with my life force. Adam has been a deeply meaningful mentor for me. I have studied with him in workshops, his Mentoring Circle, and the ZeroOne Apprenticeship, worked with him individually and organized a workshop for him in Berlin. Being a photographer as well, I have captured many moments during his teaching, which is a co-creation I am deeply grateful for. What I’ve learned from him, both as a teacher and a human, has been essential for me and for what’s emerging from of me into the world. To bring movement into what lies within. To give way to our very unique expression. And to find more freedom through embodied feelings. That is what movement practice is about for me.

20th April - 7pm CET - Tina Howard (DK)

About Tina Howard

I love freedom and feeling free in my body when I dance, is soul soothing. I felt like that at my first movement workshop over a decade ago and has been hooked ever since.

Being a student of ZeroOne at Adams Lifepath- apprenticeship has revealed hidden landscapes of my heart and parts of myself long repressed but not lost forever. Adams teachings has expanded my perception of dance; how to move and get out of my own selfpity and into something more creative and lively where ever I am, even in my own living room. Through the last 5 five years Adams guidance has brought me to experience the vast spectrum of the sweet blessings that dancing brings me. From short 5 minutes spontanous movement to feel more energised to the power of dancing steadily with a group a whole year; where a the end I entered ever deeper within my body to depths where forgiveness was possible and a deeper sense of connection to people awaited me. I am always in search of sacred spaces and dancing is a space where I feel something sacred and magical - created by everyone moving with me. So now I am delighted and passionate to offer something back to Adam and you all by offering music here.

27th April - 7pm CET - Joyleen Rao (CHF)

About Joyleen Rao

5Rhythms® Certified Teacher I am passionate about guiding others through movement as a path to self-discovery and self-healing. My journey began in 2013 in California when I experienced 5Rhythms for the first time. As the teacher spoke about Gabrielle Roth’s message—"If you have a body, you are a dancer"—I was deeply moved to tears. At that moment, I knew I wanted to share this practice to the world. This realisation led me to eight years of devotion and intensive training, culminating in my certification in December 2021. Since 2015, I have contributed to the growth of the 5Rhythms dance community in Geneva, Switzerland, co-creating events, bringing in teachers, and leading sessions as a Space Holder. I love creating transformative spaces where we can reconnect with the many colours of our soul, freeing ourselves—step by step—from the judgments and limitations we have unconsciously accepted. I believe we are here to reunite with ourselves and the Great Mystery through movement, breath, and the expression of who we truly are.
