Precious space between the old and the new
A weekend workshop of conscious dance and embodiment with Cypriot teacher and spaceholder
Elena Solomou.
Do you ever find yourself trapped in your own automatic reactions, ingrained patterns, or the same recurring loops in life? We all have patterns we would like to change. Yet between the decision to change and actually making that change, there is often a challenging space. An automatic reaction. A familiar defense mechanism. An old habit. And perhaps with it, disappointment, self-criticism, or the feeling that you have failed once again.
But what if it's not a failure?
What if this very space – between deciding to change and actually making that change – holds something incredibly valuable?

Kindness in the process of Transformation
Transformation is not a straight path. Stumbles, setbacks, and moments when we struggle to live according to our intentions are a natural part of the process. During the weekend, we will explore our automatic patterns with greater curiosity and less resistance. We will learn to see our “mistakes” and returns to old patterns as valuable moments of learning – as a map showing us the way along our own path.
Instead of fighting against ourselves, we can learn to pause.
Notice.
Allow yourself to feel.
And meet yourself with kindness.
It is exactly the self-compassion that allows us to step out of automatic reactions and create a small yet essential space between a trigger and our response. A space where choice can emerge. A new possibility. A different way of being.
We will explore how to stay present in the space between the old and the new.
In the space where we are not yet who we are becoming, but no longer have to remain who we once were.
Elena Solomou (CY)

Elena is a kind, warm, and sensitive woman. She teaches the Alexander Technique, offers one-to-one sessions, and leads movement and dance workshops that bring together body, breath, and awareness.
Originally from Cyprus, where she still lives, she studied the Alexander Technique in London and discovered the world of conscious dance, which took her across Europe. Over the years, she has deepened her practice through various forms of movement and has studied extensively under the guidance of Adam Barley.
Her approach is deeply rooted in embodiment – exploring how the principles of the technique can be brought into everyday movement as well as our inner experience. Today, she offers individual sessions, dance events, and workshops where she creates space for genuine encounters – with ourselves and with others. A space where you can pause, let go of control, and simply be. Where you can let the body speak through movement.
Elena believes that transformation does not come through force, but always through acceptance. And that healing grows through connection – when we are seen, heard, and accepted exactly as we are.
About the Alexander Technique:
The Alexander Technique is a gentle method of movement re-education that aims to improve posture, coordination, and overall body awareness. It focuses on recognizing and changing habitual movement patterns and tension that may contribute to pain, stress, and inefficient movement. By cultivating a more balanced and relaxed state of being, we can also develop tools for better managing stress and anxiety. During a session, the teacher uses gentle touch and verbal guidance to help the student release tension, become aware of habitual patterns, and learn how to change them.
